Ottawa City Council Meeting - Petition Update

Brothers and Sisters and Siblings,
While our petition may not have been broadcast during the Council meeting, we want to reassure every member that things are operating exactly as planned, and we are making real progress.
The presence of over 1,800 petition signatures has absolutely captured the Council’s attention. And while they may not have acknowledged it publicly, we can assure you: the message was received loud and clear.
Our goal was never just a moment of recognition; it was to make sure that our concerns, our vision, and our collective voice are being heard by those with the power to enact change. That mission has been accomplished.
As we’ve said before, this is a process. Meaningful changes, primarily to contract language and working conditions, take time. But every step we’ve taken has been deliberate and effective, pushing us further into focus and reinforcing our commitment to both our members and the public we serve.
We have made it clear to the City of Ottawa: we will not be the face of a failing system. Our riders deserve better, and we, the people who proudly serve them, are standing with them to demand it.
Keep up the incredible work. Stand proud, stand strong, and stay in solidarity.
We see you. We ride together.
In strength,
ATU Local 279
Thank you kindly,
