OFFICIAL STATEMENT – ATU LOCAL 279

ATU Local 279 is proud to announce that members of the Para Transpo unit have voted 100% in favour of ratifying a new collective agreement. 75% voter turnout.

This is a historic step forward.

For the first time, this agreement creates a clear path that aligns our Para Transpo members with the Conventional collective agreement in future bargaining. It brings our Para group into the full strength of our union, where they belong, as one unified workforce.

This deal reflects long overdue progress and recognition for our Para Transpo members. It delivers on the priorities that were raised and fulfills the commitment we made to this group.

I am proud of this agreement. More importantly, I am proud of the Para Transpo membership. The positivity, engagement, and camaraderie shown throughout this process and in today’s vote speaks to the strength of this group.

Thank you to International Vice President Manny Sforza, and to our bargaining team, Para Representative Barry Low, Vice President Marc Blondin, and ST Hassan Osman, for their work and commitment in getting this done.

This is not the end point. This is the foundation as we continue building toward parity, fairness, and respect for all members.

Today is about unity.

Today is about progress.

Today we ride forward together.
