OC Transpo is asking the public to say “thanks” to their bus driver over the weekend for Transit Driver Appreciation Day.
“OC Transpo, Para Transpo and O-Train Operators are on the road seven days a week and often drive in very complex traffic and weather conditions to safely get you where you need to go,” the agency said in a post on its website.
Transit Driver Appreciation Day is officially on Sunday, but will be celebrated on Friday and Saturday as well, the transit agency said.
According to Transpo, you can show your appreciation by thanking your driver, giving them a thank you card, tweeting @OC_Transpo with the hashtag #tdad, commending a driver on octranspo.com or calling OC Transpo customer service at 613-842-3600.
Transit Driver Appreciation Day began in 2009 in Seattle. It falls on March 18 because that is the date it is believed the first bus service began in Paris in 1662, with horse-drawn carriages.
